While individual departments within the college are still finalizing their decisions, it appears as if the following changes will be made to the Math entry requirements at Douglas College:
- For Douglas math courses which have a high-school math prerequisite, Pre-Calculus will replace Principles of Math as the preferred secondary course. Students with Foundations of Math may still be able to access Douglas math courses if they have a high enough Foundations grade in addition to scoring well on the Douglas College Math Assessment. We will be publishing the new prerequisites for math courses in May, so please check our website in the coming months.
- For all other courses and programs which have a high-school math requirement, Foundations of Math will be treated as equivalent to Principles of Math.
As each program area’s decision is finalized and approved, it will be posted on the Douglas College course calendar. A comprehensive update will also be provided online and through this blog, hopefully in the next few months.
